artwork reviews

"The American Linda Rzoska – who wields a fairylike style – names trees as friends of her youth. She speaks timidly about the ‘spiritual connection’ she feels with trees, but she is able to translate this unnameable bond in very authentic images that are as dreamy as they are mysterious. As a child she used to search refuge in the bark, trunk and branches to escape the world. As an adult (and artist) she still seems to do that, and now she allows us to be witnesses. It makes her part of the exhibit an intimate walk through the forest and a personal acquaintance with different characters, because Rzoska’s trees are guards, patrons and ancient counselors in one.”

“Linda’s artwork is a testament to the grandeur of the natural world, as well as to our responsibility to treat it with reverence and respect. Using her finely tuned skills of observation, Linda creates impeccably rendered works of art with traditional media. She then utilizes modern technology and digital media to create exquisitely complex, layered images that celebrate and elevate the wonders of our natural environment. These methods not only enable her to bring her work to a higher level, but also to create multiple images that can ultimately be enjoyed by more people.

“Linda’s thoughtful and artfully crafted images, particularly of trees, are a joy to view. It is obvious when viewing her work that she feels a deep connection to the natural environment. More importantly, her work serves as a compelling reminder that we are all elementally tied to the world around us and that as such it must be cherished and appreciated.”

“Linda Rzoska is an exceptionally fine artist – creative & experimental. As an artist I can appreciate not only her skill but her ability to impart a presence – a feeling of life & individuality as specific to a tree as to a human being.

“After my first meeting with Linda in her studio – seeing her remarkable drawings & prints
I returned to my neighborhood nested in the woods. For the first time I really looked at
the trees overhanging the road & marveled at their beauty & majesty – something I had simply taken for granted. Linda has a unique gift for making us aware of the beauty that surrounds us.”
